Class 9/12


Today, I came into Honors Human Geography late because I had a dentist appointment. We were taking the test. I started late, so consequently, I didn't finish. There were many questions on the test, which were many points. There were fifteen questions that were worth four points and four questions, that were short answers, which were worth ten points. There were questions like, what crimes did Socrates commit, what idiot meant if you were called it by the ancient Greeks and what was the significance of 508 BC? These were some of the easier questions to me. When we had to write the short answers, I didn’t exactly write ‘short.’ I put a lot of time and effort into these answers. Being it took me so long to compose these, I did not finish the test. However, I only have one more question to do, and I am finishing it in advisory tomorrow.

World Leaders information

Today in class we went into greater detail about all the world leaders that we had to research and create a powerpoint about. Mr. Schick was presenting his powerpoint, which had more information than ours did. His went into greater detail about the leader and their back story. First we started with Mexico. Their leader is President Enrique Pena Nieto, and they have a federal presidential republic. His approval ratings are very low and he is suspected to have killed his wife, but gets away with it. Next was China. Their leader is Xi Jinping, and they have a communist type of government. He is married to a folk singer, and he is the son of the founding fathers of the Communist party. World Leaders Information continued

In class today we finished up with the rest of the world leaders and their background stories. First, we finished Syria. We learned that Bashar al-Assad does not like his own people and he has ordered a plethora of crackdowns and military sieges on protestors. What started this for him was that his brother was killed in a car crash, and Bashar's brother was supposed to take their father's reign not Bashar. Next we went more in depth with Canada and their Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. They have a federal parliamentary democracy, and constitutional monarchy. Justin as a high-schooler defended Canadian Federalism. Also, after his brother died during a ski trip he started a campaign to support safety in winter sports. He also defended Native American rights and he openly welcomed refugees from Syria to become Canadians. Next we discussed Israel.
