Global to Local Notes

Today, Mr. Schick wasn't here so he assigned us to complete things on his blog. He asked us to take notes about his blog, find two other definitions of Globalization, and then answer some of the questions at the end. Below, are the notes that I took, definitions for globalization and answers to the questions.

  • At local scales they see neighborhoods, and are able to identify unique features
  • At global scales they see broad patterns that are encompassing the world
  • "Think global, act local" 
  • All scales are important in geography 
  • The appropriate scale depends on the specific subject 
  • Geography matters because it can explain human actions 
  • At a global scale you are able to see where the population rapidly grows and specific regions where people live 
  • Globalization is a force or process that involves the entire world and results in making something worldwide in scope
  • Globalization scale is an increasingly important part of globalization 
  • Globalization means that the scale of the world is shrinking
