Mini Halloween and Test Review


Today, in class we went over our test that we took late last week. But first, we ate candy. A couple people in the class brought in candy to have our own little Halloween. It was pretty nice however I certainly ate way too much candy especially for it only being the second period of the day. Then we continued on with our test. The class actually did very well with an 87.5 average. This was surprising because in our class group chat everyone was saying how they failed and didn’t do well, and actually we all did very well. I got a 92 on the test, which I am proud of! I only got two multiple choice questions wrong. They were kind of silly and pointless, especially because we never went over them in class. I am totally okay with that too. Also, I only got two points off of my essay. I don’t really know why I got points off, it was just filled with red underlining, so I don’t know if that is good or bad. After we finally finished we discussed push and pull factors which took up the rest of the class. Finally the bell rang and we got to leave.

World Leaders information

Today in class we went into greater detail about all the world leaders that we had to research and create a powerpoint about. Mr. Schick was presenting his powerpoint, which had more information than ours did. His went into greater detail about the leader and their back story. First we started with Mexico. Their leader is President Enrique Pena Nieto, and they have a federal presidential republic. His approval ratings are very low and he is suspected to have killed his wife, but gets away with it. Next was China. Their leader is Xi Jinping, and they have a communist type of government. He is married to a folk singer, and he is the son of the founding fathers of the Communist party. World Leaders Information continued

In class today we finished up with the rest of the world leaders and their background stories. First, we finished Syria. We learned that Bashar al-Assad does not like his own people and he has ordered a plethora of crackdowns and military sieges on protestors. What started this for him was that his brother was killed in a car crash, and Bashar's brother was supposed to take their father's reign not Bashar. Next we went more in depth with Canada and their Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. They have a federal parliamentary democracy, and constitutional monarchy. Justin as a high-schooler defended Canadian Federalism. Also, after his brother died during a ski trip he started a campaign to support safety in winter sports. He also defended Native American rights and he openly welcomed refugees from Syria to become Canadians. Next we discussed Israel.
