Kiva.org

Today in class, some people still had to finish their test. Mr. Schick started the class anyways. Today he was talking about a website called kiva.org. This website is where there are millions of people looking to get micro-funds. I found this website very interesting. Mr. Schick said that he was willing to give us five extra credit points if we did research on the website, and found two people that we found interesting due to what they needed money for or their backstory. He also said that he would be willing to give us five extra points if we were actually going to donate money to someone. So, I am planning on getting at least ten extra credit points, and I hope that the rest of the people in my class also plan on donating because if we have the highest percentage of people that donate money in all of his classes then we will be able to get another five extra points. So it is a the opportunity to get fifteen extra credit overall which I am very excited about to boost my grade even more!

In class today we finished up with the rest of the world leaders and their background stories. First, we finished Syria. We learned that Bashar al-Assad does not like his own people and he has ordered a plethora of crackdowns and military sieges on protestors. What started this for him was that his brother was killed in a car crash, and Bashar's brother was supposed to take their father's reign not Bashar. World Leaders information

Today in class we went into greater detail about all the world leaders that we had to research and create a powerpoint about. Mr. Schick was presenting his powerpoint, which had more information than ours did. His went into greater detail about the leader and their back story. First we started with Mexico. Their leader is President Enrique Pena Nieto, and they have a federal presidential republic. His approval ratings are very low and he is suspected to have killed his wife, but gets away with it. Next was China. Their leader is Xi Jinping, and they have a communist type of government. He is married to a folk singer, and he is the son of the founding fathers of the Communist party.
