video and discussion

Today in class I brought in cookies. My mom made them and I though that they were very good. Then class continued and we began to watch the Han Rosling video again, and only made it about ten seconds through before Mr. Schick stopped it and started a discussion. Honestly, I can't even remember how the conversation started, and how it got to the point that it got to. However, we began talking about North Korea. We were saying how they now have the capability to actually hit the United States with a bomb. We all proposed that why don't we just completely eliminate them, because we could easily bomb their whole entire country and wipe them out. Then Mr. Schick said that it would create more enemies for us, and we certainly do not want to get attacked, and also we have never been a country to start a war. We also went into the conversation of why North Korea would want to bomb us in the first place. We didn't understand it because we really have done nothing to them, except trying to make peace. Mr. Schick said that they despise the idea of having a government, and a democracy. They like the idea of having one strong ruler.

We learned that Bashar al-Assad does not like his own people and he has ordered a plethora of crackdowns and military sieges on protestors. World Leaders information

Today in class we went into greater detail about all the world leaders that we had to research and create a powerpoint about. Mr. Schick was presenting his powerpoint, which had more information than ours did. His went into greater detail about the leader and their back story. First we started with Mexico. Their leader is President Enrique Pena Nieto, and they have a federal presidential republic. His approval ratings are very low and he is suspected to have killed his wife, but gets away with it. Next was China. Their leader is Xi Jinping, and they have a communist type of government. He is married to a folk singer, and he is the son of the founding fathers of the Communist party.
