first day back

Today was our first day back in school. The best way to describe it was freezing, or even miserable. The school is a solid 50 degrees according to Mr. Schick's thermometer...50 degrees! All the girls are in skirts, without leggings because we thought school was going to be hot, not freezing!!! But luckily, with Mr. Schick's kind soul, he let the girls put their sweatpants on. That was greatly appreciated. So we began class, and out new unit called, Political Geography. As we began to go over this we looked at the way that the world is organized. It goes; country, nation, and then State. We went into detail over each of these. Then of course we had a long discussion over the defintion of a Country. That most definitely took up most of the class. We got went in many different directions with this conversation, and then of course...It's KELS birthday!!!!! So we sang happy birthday and then we left!

In class today we finished up with the rest of the world leaders and their background stories. First, we finished Syria. We learned that Bashar al-Assad does not like his own people and he has ordered a plethora of crackdowns and military sieges on protestors. What started this for him was that his brother was killed in a car crash, and Bashar's brother was supposed to take their father's reign not Bashar. Next we went more in depth with Canada and their Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. They have a federal parliamentary democracy, and constitutional monarchy. World Leaders information

Today in class we went into greater detail about all the world leaders that we had to research and create a powerpoint about. Mr. Schick was presenting his powerpoint, which had more information than ours did. His went into greater detail about the leader and their back story. First we started with Mexico. Their leader is President Enrique Pena Nieto, and they have a federal presidential republic. His approval ratings are very low and he is suspected to have killed his wife, but gets away with it. Next was China. Their leader is Xi Jinping, and they have a communist type of government. He is married to a folk singer, and he is the son of the founding fathers of the Communist party. Today in class, Val took her test, so of course for the rest of us its notes day...Yay my favorite, sike...Anyways, I only got through the first section but that is still 2 and a half pages of notes for me!
