World Leaders information

Today in class we went into greater detail about all the world leaders that we had to research and create a powerpoint about. Mr. Schick was presenting his powerpoint, which had more information than ours did. His went into greater detail about the leader and their back story. First we started with Mexico. Their leader is President Enrique Pena Nieto, and they have a federal presidential republic. His approval ratings are very low and he is suspected to have killed his wife, but gets away with it. Next was China. Their leader is Xi Jinping, and they have a communist type of government. He is married to a folk singer, and he is the son of the founding fathers of the Communist party. Also, his daughter went to college at Harvard. The next country that we took notes on was India. They have . federal parliamentary type of government and their leader is Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is a keen debater and was a member of the OBC, which is socially and educationally backwards. This means that he was a very independent thinker. He is considered the right-wing because he reduced spending on healthcare while working to improve sanitation. Next we went over Russia. Their leader is Vladimir Putin, and their government type is semi-presidential federation. His ruling is confusing because he was the President from 200-2008, and then he became the Prime Minister, now he is back at the presidential spot since 2012. He graduated with a low degree and he was also a part of the KGB, which is the main security agency for the Soviet Union, also known as the secret police. Next we learned about Germany's leader. First of all, they have a federal parliamentary republic and their leader is Chancellor Angela Merkel. She is known as the most powerful woman in the world. She is extremely smart and very intelligent, she graduated with a degree in physics and physical chemistry. She also has a PhD in quantum chemistry. Next we went over the United Kingdom. They have a parliamentary constitutional monarchy and commonwealth realm. Their queen is Queen Elizabeth, but their leader is Prime Minister Theresa May. May is a member of the conservative party and took over for David Cameron who stepped down when Britain left the European Union. Queen Elizabeth has been the queen for sixty-five plus years. Next we came across France and we all were greatly disappointed, and also disgusted. The President is Emmanuel Macron, and they have a semi-presidential republic type of government. He was elected at the age of 39 that is the youngest president that France has ever had. His wife however is 24 years older than him...They met at the age of 15 and 39...I have no more words about France....Next was Japan. They have a parliamentary constitutional monarchy, and their leader is Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. His father and grandfather were both politicians and he married the daughter of the previous Prime Minister. Next is Italy. They have a parliamentary republic and their President is Sergio Mattarella. He helped found the Christian Democracy and his brother was killed by the Sicilian Mafia. The last one for today that we went over was Syria, and we really didn't get into much detail with this. They supposedly have a presidential republic, but really it is a authoritarian regime, and their leader is Bashar al-Assad.
