presentation

Today in Western Civ, the last group presented their projects. It was Kelsies project, and definitely one of my favorites. They were all so knowledgable about it so it was fun to listen to and learn. It was like it was a full class and teachers were teaching. This was my favorite project and their presentation kept me entertained the whole time and made sense in the order that they had it. Their project was also really good. Then once they finished, we pretty much had a free period. We were told to start reading the book, and I only got a couple notes down about the section we were supposed to be reading.

Alexander the Great Notes

Today in class Mr. Schick told us take notes on pages 142-145 in our textbook. So that is exactly what I did. The following information are the things that I thought were important while I was reading. Philip is the King of Macedonia and he builds up their power  located North of Greece  had rough terrain and a very cold climate  the Macedonians thought of themselves as Greeks  Greeks looked down on the Macedonians because they had no great philosophers  they did have shrewd and fearless kinds  Philips army  359 Philip became king  he was brilliant and ruthless he made peasants into an army transformed their community  created the strongest phalanxes ever  Conquest of Greece  Demothene was a professional public speaker  tried to warn Greece and Philip and his army  Athens and Thebes joined to fight  Greece was defeated at the battle of Chaeronea  this defeat ended Greek independenc...

presentations pt 2!

Today, Jamie, Maddie, Val, and Sydneys group presented. Their project was on the Olympic games. They made a video about each of the games that they used to play. Their video was very good, and their presentation was decent. I say that it was decent because they were reading most of their information off of notecards. But sometimes they did go into greater depth but not all the time. Their video was enjoyable and funny and you could tell that they put a lot of effort into it. Then we watched this other video about chariot racing, and it was quite amusing.

presentations

Today in class, my group presented our project. We started with giving our sparkling cider to everyone. Then we played our video, and then we gave them the rest of the food. We gave a little speech here and there about our project. Then we finished and another group started their project. The next group was Owen and Ben. They made a trireme out of wood. It was a really good representation of it, however, Ben knew all the background information, and Owen did not. So, it was more like an individual effort put together, rather than a combined and good effort. Otherwise, I really liked their project. Next, Aiden, Dom, Frankie and Vlad's group went. Their project was good however, it was a weird set up. Aiden and Vlad made a Trident. And Dom and Frankie made a Phalanx. Both of their projects were good, but it was just like Ben's and Owen's. One made the project and the other one did all the research. It was still a good job though!

projectssss

Today in class Mr. Schick let us work on our group projects. After school, and practices, everyone is coming back to my house to work on the project. We our going to make our cooking show tonight! I am excited to see the outcome of it!! Anyways in the beginning of class Mr. Schick told us that he will no longer be doing the mass shootings since we were born. This honestly made me sad, because I feel like this a good way to remember the ones that we lost. I understand how some people could see it as Mr. Schick imposing his opinion on us, but at the same time, I, and many others thought it was a good idea. Stuff happens though so we just need to move on and keep going. So the rest of the class we worked on gathering information for our projects, and we even started our paper. So I think that we are in a good spot!

plato's allegory of the cave

Today in class we went through a video. And the following information is the notes that I took during class. Plato's allegory of the cave  a story, poem, or picture that can contain a modern meaning or a moral, or political lesson  facing wall hands tied up  fire behind them  only can see shadows  so this is all they know  they identify things they are seeing but aren't actually seeing it  first time going outside  it was very disorienting  only one was released at first  examined mostly shadows, because thats all he knew  he was enlightened by reality  the sun whose light is the ultimate source of everything seen  his friends thought the journey was stupid  most people just aren't comfortable in their ignorance but hostile to anyone who points it out  Plato spends most time discouraging Athenian democracy while promoting the rule of Philosopher Kings Allegory can be read in many di...
